This tablet is dark grey in color and it sports a plain look. On its back we found that the thick black strip perfectly blends with its simple look. At the bottom edge somewhere in the middle you will come across a Micro-HDMI and a Micro-USB port. Move on and on the right side you will notice the Power/ Sleep button, volume rocker and a headphone jack. Right on the top, sitting all by itself is the 3.5mm headphone jack. It is difficult to miss the dual-inch speaker grills on its back that sit on either sides of this tablet. This tablet comes with a smooth rubbery back making it comfortable to hold in your hands. In terms of design we give this tablet full marks.
The specifications of this tablet did impress us. It weighs around 20 oz and its screen measures 8.9 inches. It comes with an integrated camera and an internal storage of 16GB. The dimensions of this device measure 9.45 x 6.5 x 0.35 inches.
This 8.9 inch tablet is powered by the Ice Cream Sandwich OS and it runs on the same interface as its 7 inch processor. The X-Ray function of this OS has been expanded to textbooks allowing users to obtain definitions of complicated terms. Definitions can also be obtained from Wikipedia. The X-Ray for movies shows up the IMDb information for the actors in the running scene. FreeTime works as a Parental Control option allowing parents take full control of what their kids’ can and cannot do on this tablet. Advertisements support this tablet. However, by paying around $15 you can get away with them.
Performance and battery life
This tablet runs on a 1.5GHz dual-core TI OMAP4470 processor. Web pages load fast on this tablet and pinch zooming proves to be highly responsive to touch. Going by what the company advertises, this tablet is believed to have a battery life of about 10 hours.
